Everyone must be corrected that in any democracy, a political party which has the highest number of parliamentarians gets the position of Prime Minister or Leader of Opposition. In PNG the pros and cons of this process for the PM post is stipulated in the PM and NEC ACT. However, for opposition there is no legislation administrating such. Therefore, it is sole legal perogative of the head of Legislature (Speaker) to perform that role in the absence of laws. In the case of Namah, Theo Zurenuoc has offically recognised Hon. Don Polye so he should accept it (under percieved difficult circumstances). If Namah was too vocal on fighting corruption in the best interest of the people, he should accept it. Exciting times are ahead for the Opposition. If there is going to be a party with ten MPs crossing floor to the opposition, Polye stands ready to relinquish the leadership to the leader of that party because his concience is dictated by the principles of good governance and democracy.
