Everyone needs to keep secrets, so to spare your conscience, everyone also needs a confessor, like God, or a Wife, a Best Friend, or a personal Diary/Journal that youve expunged EVERYTHING to. Then, there is a record, and if someone is suspicious of you, you can say You probably dont want to know. I really dont want to tell you for reasons, or I would have already. If you HAVE to know, its there. You can have the secret if you work to get it from where its kept. Locks, Gatekeepers, Passwords, Riddles, Traps, Puzzles, Firewalls, Curses, are all legitimate barriers to the accessing of your secrets, but in my opinion if someone deliberately puts themselves up against the security of Secrets, if you gain the knowledge, you earned it, because ultimately you couldnt have got it unless it was set up to be found in someway. If you actually want a Secret to be Lost To Time Forever, you cant let yourself have any conscience pangs and you have to be willing to Obliviate even yourself of the knowledge of it. If its left in any hidden corner of Existence, someone is liable to find it. So basically, Privacy is a Right, but not a Guarantee. Very much like Life. If something Kills you, you can regret it all you want and wish it didnt happen, thats normal emotional reaction. But what you cant do is say that thats Not Fair. When you understand that all Rights are also Responsibilities and entail all kinds of costs and strains on you to upkeep them, then you start valuing and protecting them more, you succeed more at getting them, and when you dont get them, you spend shorter periods of mourning over losing them. All around more happiness. Now the funny thing is-- is it a Guarantee that all Rights are lost eventually? Is Failure a guarantee no matter how hard one tries? Now thats a different question entirely. ANONYMOUS is about making the Right to Privacy Guaranteed to be Lost, they are proactively taking a role-playing gamers Tomb-robber character directly to the streets and information superhighways of the real world. They will claim its morally justifiable to do so. A single person achieving a Secret, I just said I agreed that if they succeeded, that implies they earned it. But an organized Effort to deliberately bring about Failure to any attempt at Secrecy....now for one thing that just plain puts them out of a job. Any Scientist with a Brain knows that Science is pretty much about putting Scientists out of a job-- any Scientist with a Heart decides theyd rather Scientists always have a job, theyd rather there always be something new left to find. The Fifth of November is for Libertarians what the Fourth of July is for Republicans. But now, on the Sixth of November, consider if youre a Libertarian that maybe Libertarians dont want to put themselves out of a job. Consider not trying too hard to fulfill your Prime Directive as maximally efficiently as possible. If you Fulfill your Purpose, you Obsolete yourself in the same stroke. Are you ready to be Meaningless? After Brainiac finds and absorbs all the Knowledge and Culture in the Universe, what is left for it? To save time, Ill spare the comparisons to Absolute Despots and Absolute Monopolists, but governments and economies follow the same patterns as academies and adventures. The only way to Actually Win is to Keep Not Losing Without Winning. If you are a Competitor, your are a Player, and The Plays The Thing.
