Everything happens for a reason.” I’ve heard this said more times than I care to. I’m not sure where it came from either, but it’s definitely not in the Bible. The closest thing I can come up with is “To everything, there is a season,” but that’s not exactly the same. The fact is that faith, by definition, is not reasonable. If it could be verified with facts or by using the scientific method, it wouldn’t be faith. It would be a theory. Also, consider how such a brief, yet forceful and to the point, phrase sounds to someone who is sick or a family member died. Do you really mean to tell them there’s a reason that happened? Better to be quiet, listen and if appropriate, mourn alongside them. But don’t dismiss grief or tragedy with such a meaningless statement. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 Poem: “The clock of life is wound but once, And no man has the power. To tell just when the hands will stop, At late or early hour. To lose one’s wealth is sad indeed. To lose one’s health is more. To lose one’s soul is such a loss, That no man can restore. 39 people died while we just read that short poem! Every hour 5,417 go to meet their Maker! What is the Purpose of life? Better yet, What is the Purpose of your life? Great question? – Many can’t answer. Many give up when they don’t find out. “Life, Death, Time & Eternity” make up the ingredients of life! (all are in this chapter) What we’ll see here is individuality, we are unique! (a special time for everyone to be birthed, & a time appointed to die, etc.) “If we as individuals are not unique, than we are not important. If we are not important, then life has no meaning.
