Everything is in place for a New Madrid quake to happen. From historical documents, diaries, journals and publications during 1811 and 12 it is all here. That is a VERY limited amount of data. Im sure data is missing because most of the country was uninhabited then. 2 today so small they could not be felt, certainly means there is something to the data. A large one today would be quite damaging over a large populated area. If the dams break the nuke plants have limited emergency cooling. Im not sure what the projections were but they will need to change them. A very reputable scientist threw his career away predicting one on New Madrid about 10 years ago. Nobody can predict quakes but they can tell you the probabilities. Ours just became twice as probable.
