Evolutionary Psychologists believe that all living organisms carry something called the ‘Selfish Gene.’ It’s a gene that drives them to be kind to those who carry the same gene. That’s is why dogs in a pack fight to save each other even when they are attacked by a tiger. That is why when two chimpanzees in a group fight, the group often gets together to console the loser. That’s is why parents run into burning buildings to save their children. Apparently these acts of kindness enhance the chances of the gene surviving the test of time and avoiding extinction. So remember, the next time you feel like feeding the hungry or donating blood or merely being nice, do it. It will help you avoid extinction.
