Ex-Ogun PDP deputy governorship candidate set to join CPC The deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democatic Party, PDP, in Ogun State in 2011, Tunde Oladunjoye, who recently quit the party, is set to pitch his tent with the Congress for Progressives Change, CPC, PREMIUM TIMES has exclusively gathered. Mr. Oladunjoye has concluded arrangements towards this, and a formal declaration will be released in the next 24 hours, sources close to the politician have said. The former PDP chieftain is moving to CPC with his supporters just as his new party is at an advanced stage of welcoming him into the fold. A visit to the CPC state secretariat located along Moshood Abiola Way, Abeokuta, showed the eagerness of party members to receive him and his supporters from the troubled PDP. Mr. Oladunjoye, while pulling out of the PDP, had announced that he left the ruling party because of unresolved crisis within the party. He said he would announce his next actions later. When contacted, a chieftain of the CPC, Wale Okunniyi, confirmed that Mr. Oladunjoye plans to join the party, adding that arrangements to welcome him were in top gear. Mr. Okunniyi added that beside Mr. Oladunjoye, more members of the opposition have equally shown interest to join the CPC. Mr. Okunniyi, who was a former governorship candidate of the CPC in the state, disclosed that merger talks with other political parties to fuse into All Progressives Congress, APC, is to commence at the state level soon in view of the setting up of the merger committee. The Ogun CPC, which Mr. Oladunjoye is moving to, also has its own crisis as it recently suspended its chairman from office. The National Secretariat of the party, however, rejected the suspension.
