Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Jan 18: Natrang under its weekly ‘Sunday Theatre’ today staged Showkat Thanvi’s hilarious comedy play ‘Khuda Hafiz’, which was directed by Neeraj Kant. The play has a contemporary message which throws light on the superstitions of the society we live in. The plot begins with Mir Sahib preparing to travel via train to the adjoining city regarding a property case. He is also accompanied by his two friends Sheikh Sahib and Mirza Sahib. The preparations are made for the travel and various plans are put into order. Mir Sahib becomes quite extravagant when it comes to pack his belongings. He emphasizes on bringing along lavish food, good clothes along with his favourite pets, a parrot and a pair of quails. All his actions are subtly objected by his friends but they still continue to corporate with him. The twist in the play comes when Mir Sahib pauses his journey because one of his servants sneezes. He believes that a person’s sneezing leads to misfortune. After some time, the travel plans are resumed but are again interrupted by a cat which crosses their path just when they are about to leave the house. This action is considered highly unlucky according to Mir Sahib and he refuses to take the cart that will take him to the Railway Station. All the superstition leads to the cancellation of the trip thereby leading to loss in the property case. The artists who participated in the play included Varun Sharma, Juhi Singh, Rajan Thakyal, Namit Dubey, Sachin Bamba, Abhishek Khajuria and Arun Sharma. Lights were designed and operated by Neeraj Kant, whereas sets were designed and executed by Varun Sharma and Rajan Thakyal. Presentations were done by Muddassar Ali Shah and Mahikshit Singh co-ordinated the show.
