Excerpt: A pounding on my door roused me from my sleep. I opened one eye and looked at the clock. It glowed an angry red, reading eight o’clock. I growled in frustration. I’d only been asleep for three hours. After I laid down last night I tossed and turned until almost five before I drifted off exhausted. “Go away!” I yelled stuffing my head under the pillow. I heard footsteps fading and started to drift back to sleep. Next thing I know the blankets are being ripped back. “Hey!” I yell jumping up in outrage. Mayville is standing at the end of the bed, blanket still in his hand. “What do you think you are doing?” I growl, hands on my hip. He smirks in return. “You wouldn’t come to the door.” I look at him like he has grown a second head. “Are you serious? I was sleeping!” “There’s no sense in sleeping the day away. Around here, the days start at 8.” “How does that apply to me?” “Well for the next 6 months, we’re engaged. So when my day begins so does yours.” “Like hell it does.” I glare at him. My subconscious is peaking at him from under her pillow and my inner bookworm is still passed out with a Janet Evanovich novel covering her face. I notice that he has already showered and is dressed impeccably dressed in a charcoal grey suit. I feel like a slob standing across from him in my pajamas and un-brushed hair. “Get yourself ready and come downstairs. Breakfast is served at nine and there are things we need to discuss.” He dropped the blanket and left. I grabbed the pillow and threw it at the door behind him. I flopped down on the bed and covered my eyes with the other pillow. I heard the door creak open. “Don’t fall back asleep, Ms. Marks.” “Look here Mayville, I’ll get up and get ready when I darn well feel like it.” He shut the door and I sat up, resigned to the fact I wouldn’t be going back to sleep. I stomped into the bathroom and stared at myself in the mirror. My hair was a wreck and there would be no taming it. I growled and flipped on the shower, adjusting the temperature. I stripped down quickly and stepped in. A small giggle escaped as I revealed in the awesomeness of the huge shower. It didn’t have a regular shower head but panels in the ceiling so it was like standing in the rain. I allowed myself a few extra minutes after I washed and conditioned my hair to just stand under the spray before I got out and wrapped one of the luxurious towels around myself securing it in a knot between my breasts. I went through the drawers hoping to find a curling iron or blow dryer but came up empty. I made a mental note to go and get one. I used another towel and wrapped my hair in it. I padded into the closet and stared at all my clothes. I scowled trying to decide what was worse that someone had went through and took care of all my clothes or that I had no idea what to wear. I decided that I’d go with the same theme as last night. I opened drawers until I found my bra and panties. “OCD much?” I gaped at the color coded drawer
