Excerpt from the attached article,"Today, Sept. 4, the council will give the first of two votes on a proposed ordinance aimed to force the natural gas utility to provide an additional report as part of any statement of intent to increase rates, which Gerlt said he sees coming sooner rather than later. ... Gerlt said he does not believe the city can prevent Atmos from raising its rates in the long run, but is hopeful the ordinance will add more requirements for Atmos to justify a request. He declined to discuss specifics of the ordinance or its proposed requirements. A copy of the proposed ordinance states it would require Atmos, when requesting a rate increase, provide “a rate filing package to include specific schedules, data, and other information to be provided to the municipality by gas utilities as part of a statement of intent to increase rates under the Gas Utility Regulatory Act.”
