Exciting news: The MacArthur Foundation just announced that it will team up with SAMHSA to address the behavioral health needs of youth in contact with the juvenile justice system. This initiative will focus on, among other things, keeping youth with co-occurring mental and substance use disorders out of the juvenile justice system and instead diverting them into community-based programs and services. Juvenile Law Center has extensive experience promoting diversion initiatives like this, particularly in Pennsylvania, thanks to the MacArthur Foundation’s support.
