Exciting news! We have just received a report that a Dark Green Fritillary (Argynnis aglaja) was spotted at our Holtspur Bottom reserve in July. This butterfly used to breed in the Holtspur Valley, but has apparently been absent for many years. Of course, a single sighting doesn’t suggest this species has recolonised the valley, but I can guarantee we’ll be looking for it very carefully in 2015!
