Exercise is mentioned, and a chart is shown in relation to women or men who either have a family history of major depressive disorder (MDD), or dont have a family history of major depressive disorder. Basically, for genetic reasons, because there is a history of depression in our family, its likely that the women would benefit from light exercise much more so than intense exercise. Going for a 10 to 15-minute walk once a day, a few days a week, or 6 days of any given week if you feel that it doesnt wear you out, can be sufficient to improve physical and mental health. Theres no need to push yourself too hard! He describes it as a walk that allows you to easily converse in a conversation, so while youre on the move youre not going so quickly that you are breathing so heavily that you couldnt talk. Men, on the other hand, were shown to benefit from intense exercise whether or not they have a family history of major depressive disorder, much more than any benefits from light exercise.
