Exploring a new nature location? Please comment and share, Have you, or do you plan to, visit a new nature location in 2014? Last week my son Liam and I decided to visit the cliff tops around Ringstead to White Nothe (meaning nose) just East of Weymouth and although my health doesnt allow for brisk walking luckily nature gives us plenty of daylight this time of year just to take our time and enjoy what is around us. The scenery was outstanding from freshly harvested fields to breeze tickled dancing grassy views as if mimicking the ocean below. The sky was blue bringing the sea into its world where only the white chalk dust was allowed to immerse itself at the bottom of the chalk laden cliffs. Butterflies and bees were plentiful and passed us greeting each flower with renewed vigour, Ringlets, Meadow Browns, Small Tortoiseshell, Marbled whites and Skippers graced us with their company, although the Lulworth Skipper was not to be seen we were treated to our first ever Dark Green Fritillary and ended a spectacular and wonderful day with its showing. A definite place to revisit for us both. - Pat (Lorton Meadows Volunteer) TAKE CARE AT CLIFF EDGES, KEEP YOUR DOGS ON A LEAD AND FOLLOW THE COUNTRYSIDE CODE.
