Extra-help Employment Opportunities in Elections The Santa Barbara County Elections Division is looking for qualified people to fill temporary positions for the 2014 election cycle. The starting pay is $14.635/hour. Length of assignment will vary; however, may begin as soon as March 2014 and may run through November 2014. We have 3 scheduled elections: June 3, 2014 Statewide Direct Primary, July 8, 2014 Special Mail Ballot Election, and a November 4, 2014 General Election. Overtime will be required, including evenings/weekends. Applicants must be available to work on Saturdays the month before and after the June and November elections. Administrative and Front Office Assistants We are looking for candidates with Administrative Assistant and Customer Service experience. The ideal candidates will have: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Word (including Mail Merge), Excel and Outlook Excellent customer service and attention to detail Full-time and over-time availability Front Office positions require English/Spanish bilingual skills Applicants must pass background check to satisfaction of the department. Warehouse Staff We are looking for candidates to fill temporary positions in our Precinct and Polling Place Logistics section. This position will: • Assist with the inventory, packaging and quality assurance of precinct supplies. • Assist with the testing and preparation of equipment to be used at the polling locations on Election Day. • Be responsible for making daily mail runs to the post office and bi-weekly trips to our North County offices. • Assist with setting up/taking down training centers for pollworker training and will assist with the hands-on training of pollworkers. • Assist with the distribution, reception and breakdown of supplies and equipment for the election. Ideal candidates: Must have an excellent attention to detail Must be able to stand for long periods of time May be required to lift up to 50 pounds Must have a valid California Driver’s License Warehouse staff candidates must past background and DMV record check to satisfaction of the department.
