Extreme Danger to occupants: Straight streams of water through windows are now being deployed as Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in many fire department operations. A straight stream of water can cause serious injury or death to anyone that seeks fresh air or an escape route from a structure fire when they use the same window the water is being applied through. Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS) utilize equivalent or more effective fire extinguishing straight streams of foam that is softer and far less dangerous than the destructive straight stream of water.
