FACEBOOK NEEDS TO REVIEW THEIR RESTRICTION POLICIES IN THE CONTEXT - TopicsExpress

FACEBOOK NEEDS TO REVIEW THEIR RESTRICTION POLICIES IN THE CONTEXT OF THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENTS PROPENSITY TO CIRCUMVENT SYSTEMS FOR THEIR SELF SERVING PURPOSES. Well yesterday my account was suspended by Facebook, the feedback was that I posted a picture that somehow violated their terms. The picture in question was the fake medical report on General Buharis health. Apparently several paid agents of government reported the picture on my timeline like I posted to promote it. The truth you all saw clearly was that I not only posted it to alert people to its clear forgery but also was also able to establish the fact that one of the Presidents physicians Dr. Tonye Iyalla was involved in he distribution of the false report on social media and was the source of the report as far as my investigations revealed. Immediately I started to get threats particularly from one Olabode Omojuyigbe who clearly boasted he knew the source of the forged document. The funny thing was that when Dr. iyalla and many of the government cronies posted these same pictures presenting falsely that General Buhari was a cancer patient, many people reported that SAME EXACT picture to Facebook. An example is Soni Akoji whose account was suspended in similar circumstances a few days ago, Facebooks response to Soni and many others to the report of the picture as forgery was that Facebook didnt find any violations about the picture, but these guys were able to get my account suspended for posting the SAME EXACT picture even though I was posting it on the context of discrediting it. The same picture is till being circulated by many others as I write this post though it has been taken down from my page. Someone posted a picture of General Buhari with his head partly replaced by a coconut and Soni posted a similar picture with GEJs head replaced by a coconut on the same thread as a response, They went ahead and reported Sonis picture offensive and suspended his account while those posting BUHARIS were left alone. It may appear Facebook is partial in this whole Nigerian political discuss, but I suspect the government with their limitless resource have found a way to shut down opposition voices circumventing Facebooks policies. They get hundreds of their paid agents to report your posts and pictures daily (I have been getting several notifications of pictures they reported) knowing that if you constantly get those volumes of complaints at some point Facebook would be forced to shut you down. Its a pretty efficient strategy because they have the numbers. I would suggest Facebook take into serious consideration the elections in Nigeria and the intention of government supporters to wittily dr press the voice of opposition. I know Facebook has billions of users and may not be able to go through every post to verify what is what, but it would be a sad day if agents of repressive governments are able to use Facebook policies to silence the voices of opposition in emerging democracies. I am sure that runs contrary to the ideals the founders of the platform set it up for. I shall take this further. ~Ajagzy Okunrin Ogun
