FINISHING STRONG : MATT- 19: 16-23. Finishing strong is a call for all those who want to get to heaven. Many start strong, some continue strong but few believers finish strong and finish well. My prayer is that by the end of this message, as many as are not in the right relationship with God shall find their bearing in Jesus. This young man desire to be perfect and unblamable before God. He wanted eternal life, he said Teacher, what good thing shall i do, that i may have eternal life? This is the heart desire of virtually all believers do we achieve it? Whatever will not let us achieve it God will destroy them in our lives today IJN. To finish strong: 1. It is a call. 2. It takes endurance. 3. We have to prepare for the struggles. It is said that Any cat that would kill a frog must prepare to dip eyes into water. 4. We must focus our attention on Jesus. This young man started well like most of us. He really thought he continued well until he hard encounter with the King of kings. It was not his approach that was wrong but his inability to totally surrender to Gods will for his life. Are you too struggling with God instead to let go and let God.? It is dangerous to struggle with God. Jacob attempted it and got his hip disjointed : Gene. 32:25. When we are in the will of God even if there are challenges, we will have peace -not sadness like this young man. RUEBEN: Gen 37: 21-29. He delivered Joseph from death. It was his good start, but he didnt sustain it. He went to sleep with his fathers wife. Gen 35:22. His younger brother took his place. My prayer is that, others shall not take our rightful place IJN. Gen 49: 3-4. SOLOMON. 1 King 1:1-11:1 1. Solomon had a good father. The father that feared God. 2. He received good advice. 3. He made a good request and God responded in 1 King 3 : 10-13. The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. So God said to him; Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been any one like you, nor will there ever be. Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for- both riches and honour- so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. 4. Solomon performed a good project-building Gods temple. 5. He heard a good prayer life. 1 King 8 : 22-24-30. Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in front of the whole assembly of Israel, spread out his hands toward heaven, and said: O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below- You who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way........ 6. He wrote many books. New system e.g Proverbs, Ecclesiastics and Songs of Solomon. 7. He did not end well. 1 King 11: 9-11. As a result of his disobedience from following God alone, the Lord divided his kingdom between his son and his subordinate. CONCLUTION: 1 Cor. 10:11 1 Cor 9: 24-27. Phil 3: 12-14. Heb 12.1-3. Many threw in the towel & quit because They are not prepared for what they met in the body. a. They didnt expect life to be tough. b. They were wrongly accused or unjustly blamed. c. They felt ignored & unappreciated, and everyone seemed to have overlooked all the good they have done. Solution is LOOK UNTO JESUS. Heb 12:2. Fix your eyes on Him. That is the secret of finishing well & finishing strong. PRAYER: Matt 10:22. Father! Whatever it will cost me & whatever it will cost you, just let me finish well IJN.
