FACINE/21 HOLDS SPECIAL GALA SCREENING OF MES DE GUZMANS ANG KUWENTO NI MABUTI/The story of Mabuti, on December 12, 2014, 7 pm at the mini-Roxie Theater in San Francisco. FACINE/21: the 21st annual Filipino international cine festival will have the US premiere of Mes de Guzmans critically-acclaimed film, ANG KUWENTO NI MABUTI (2013) which stars Philippine Superstar Nora Aunor as a poor medicine woman in Nueva Vizcaya who comes to a moral dilemma when confronted with a decision whether to keep or return the bag she found, containing 5 million pesos. The film which won for de Guzman the directing and writing honors at the first Cine Filipino festival, also shared the Best Film award with Sigrid Andrea Bernardos ANG HULING CHA-CHA NI ANITA. MABUTI also was the festivals top box-office draw. ANG KUWENTO NI MABUTI, shot in Ilocano, marks the first time for Nora Aunor to appear in a film, other than spoken in Tagalog. FACINE/21 runs December 11-13, 2014. The final program of films will be announced over the weekend. Please save the dates.
