FACT OF THE WEEK: During World War Two, about 5000 Canadian soldiers traveled to a port in Dieppe, France. Soldiers were told that the purpose of the mission was to ambush the Germans and capture the port. The mission would fail. About 900 Canadians died, about 2000 were injured, and about another 2000 were taken prisoner. It wasnt until recently that the true purpose of the mission was to steal a German enigma machine and code books from the Germans.
