FAIRBANKS—Two men ended up with minor stab wounds and one is in jail following a fight over a piece of -Thanksgiving apple pie in a Farewell Avenue apartment building late Friday night. Kyle David Wilcox, 26, of Fairbanks, was being held at Fairbanks Correctional Center on $15,000 bail Monday after being arrested on felony burglary and assault charges by Fairbanks police just past midnight Friday. Neither Wilcox nor the male victim was seriously injured, though Wilcox was treated at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital before being arrested, according to a criminal complaint. Wilcox, who was covered in blood and holding a towel to the left side of his head when police interviewed him, told police he and his son had gone to the victims apartment to ask for a piece of apple pile after smelling it cooking from their neighboring apartment. When he knocked on the door and asked for a piece of pie, a man he didnt know refused and wanted to start a fight. Wilcox, who reportedly appeared intoxicated when he spoke with police and had a loaded gun on the kitchen table, said he was grabbed and pulled inside the apartment and stabbed. Fearing for his life, Wilcox told police he grabbed his son and fled. Police got a different story from the victim and witnesses in the apartment Wilcox had visited. The victim, who was also covered in blood when he spoke to police as the result of a small cut to the back of his neck, said Wilcox and his son walked into his apartment late Friday night talking about something smelling good. The victim, who didnt know Wilcox but thought he lived upstairs, said he suspected Wilcox was intoxicated and was able to get him to leave with some coaxing. About 20 minutes later, the victim told police he heard a loud banging at the door that made him feel uneasy. He retrieved a steak knife from the kitchen, went to the door and opened it to see Wilcox and a man later identified as his brother, Aaron. The victim said Aaron Wilcox was demanding to get something for his nephew and was attempting to force his way into the apartment. When Aaron Wilcox put his foot in the door, the victim told him he had a knife and not to come in. At that point, Kyle Wilcox is accused of forcing his way into the apartment and jumping the victim. A fight ensued on the living room floor and the victim told police he was punched and held down. At some point the victim told police he thought Aaron Wilcox grabbed the knife and that he could feel it stabbing into the back of his neck. The victim said he somehow got the knife back from either Aaron or Kyle Wilcox and had the knife pressed against the left side of Kyle Wilcox. The victim told Kyle Wilcox to let him go or he would kill him while slowly applying more pressure with the knife until Kyle Wilcox noticed he was bleeding. At that point, both Wilcoxes ran out of the apartment, the victim told police. The owner of the apartment told police she was awakened by noise and came out of her bedroom yelling at the Wilcox brothers to leave. When they didnt leave, the woman went back into her bedroom to get properly dressed to get rid of the two men. When she came back out, the woman told police, the victim and Kyle Wilcox were fighting on the floor with the knife. She said Aaron Wilcox appeared to be trying to break up the fight and get his brother out of the apartment. The two men eventually fled the apartment. Police found blood splatter inside the apartment and furniture tipped over as if there had been a struggle. A kitchen steak knife was lying on an end table next to the couch. Aaron Wilcox had fled the scene by the time police arrived and no charges had been filed against him as of Monday, according to court records.
