FALSE PROPHETS PART 2 By Ernest Carel Kafunsa on Wednesday, 29 January 2014 at 02:03 FALSE PROPHETS AND THE END TIMES Let’s look ahead from what we discussed last week about the false prophets and prayer. Today I wish we can consider one other aspect of interest for these self proclaimed men of God. Always I do ask myself which God they are talking about. We open the same bible, we read the same verses but the interpretation that they give us is really different from what God’s words are telling us. Their Theology is a Theology of PROSPERITY, MASSIVE PROSPERITY. Of which our GOD is not the architect. Reading the Gospel we hear what the LORD JESUS is saying unto us: “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect (Mat 24:24)”, and the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Romans writes: “I appeal to you, brethren, to take note of those who create dissensions and difficulties, in opposition to the doctrine which you have been taught; avoid them (Rom 16:17)”. These two things are seen today. And these men of God wish to prosper through the field which is not theirs. They wish to feed people with false information so as to bring dissensions and difficulties. What is really the truth behind their message? How true are their miracles? Why is it that GOD is not answering us as we pray in our churches or homes, but we only need to consult these people as our fortune tellers and as witch doctors for the prayer? Does it mean that God is no longer present in our churches but only present in SECTS and FELLOWSHIPS? Has the HOLY GHOST seized its power over the world? We need to examine these guiding questions if we are to get the truth out their message. And we can not only examine these questions without the help of the HOLY BIBLE for it is where they are getting their riches from. The same BIBLE we use, we pray GOD doesn’t listen to our prayers, they Pray and the same moment God grants them their wishes. Which GOD do they praise? And when we come to the end of times it’s really a challenge we are to overcome against these people. Let’s see some passages of the bible in which Jesus is talking about the end of times. I will limit my time in the New Testament since is where these self proclaimed men of God find their food too. They read a passage and interprets it not to make you understand but go astray. They misinterpret the bible and mislead many souls. Desperation, depression and anger is what they produce in the hearts of those who have followed them and been fooled. So many people are crying today for having believed in these people. They had taken them as their gods, all what they say is what varies for the life of those who follow them. People don’t see it but in this the very first Commandment of God is being destroyed: “You shall have no other gods before me (Exo 20:3)” and the Bible continues with the words of the Lord to Moses: “you shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, (Exo 20:5)”. These FALSE PROPHETS are making people believe in them as if they are gods themselves. The Lord said, ‘you shall not bow down to them or serve them!’ But what is happening today? How many people are serving these self proclaimed prophets? How many are bowing before them as if they are gods? The LORD GOD will show his light upon us as the people who are still living in the darkness. In the book of the Prophet Isaiah, the oracle of the Lord warns the people of such a conduct of facing other realities for answers lather than God HIMSELF. “And when they say to you, Consult the mediums and the wizards who chirp and mutter, should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? (Isa 8:19)” and it says that at the end these people will live in darkness: “and they will look to the earth, but behold, distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and they will be thrust into thick darkness (Isa 8:22)”. But from this very same darkness God will give HIMSELF to them and guide them in a new path of life: “But there will be no gloom for her that was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulon and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he will make glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations. The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them have light shined (Isa 9:1-2)”. I have given this short passage of the Old Testament to show that whenever God CURSED the people that HE loved, HE was always giving them a solution and words of consolation. This fact is even present in the New Testament, wherever Jesus talks about the end of times he has some words to add at the end of each oracle that he makes. But these false prophets what they show is all doom; there is no hope, no chance to be relieved if you don’t for their words. These people are fortune seekers and not men of GOD. They read the BIBLE but they have their own god to whom they obey. They have no truth in themselves. We have a GOD of Love and not a GOD of condemnation, destruction, hatred, anger, whatever you may put on the list………… Jesus came on earth to teach us that our GOD is love, is the Lord of the Living and not God of the dead. Yet these prophets can only prophesy death and not life for those who don’t follow them. So before looking into the New Testament Biblical passages on the End of Times, let us consider one thing which is worth talking about at this point in time. This is Eschatology: this word that comes from Greek eschatos, ‘last’, the term refers to the ‘doctrine of the last things’. In contrast to cyclical conceptions of history, the biblical writings understand history as a linear movement towards a goal. God is driving history towards the ultimate fulfillment of his purposes for his creation. So biblical eschatology is not limited to the destiny of the individual; it concerns the consummation of the whole history of the world, towards which all God’s redemptive acts in history are directed. The distinctive character of New Testament eschatology is determined by the conviction that in the history of Jesus Christ God’s decisive eschatological act has already taken place, though in such a way that the consummation remains still future. There is in New Testament eschatology both an ‘already’ of accomplished fulfillment and a ‘not yet’ of still outstanding promise. There is both a ‘realized’ and a ‘future’ aspect to New Testament eschatology, which is therefore probably best described by the term ‘inaugurated eschatology’. The note of eschatological fulfillment already under way means that Old Testament eschatology has become, in a measure, present reality for the New Testament. The ‘last days’ of the prophets have arrived: as the Bible tells us about Jesus Christ that; “You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your fathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He was destined before the foundation of the world but was made manifest at the end of the times for your sake. Through him you have confidence in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God (1Pe 1:18-21)”. Here we are reminded of which price we were bought. Neither with Gold nor Silver but were we saved; Jesus saved us by offering Himself to death for us. The Old Testament prophets had prophesied for the end of time that new heavens and earth will be born, Jesus made this present in his and our own time, and thus we can talk of the already existed eschatology that’s not yet been consumed. But we are warned to trust only in God and put our hope in Him, not in man as these so called men of God are telling us to do. For us as Christians this ‘end of the ages’ has already been realized; “Now these things happened to them as a warning, but they were written down for our instruction, upon whom the end of the ages has come. Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. Therefore, my beloved, shun the worship of idols. I speak as to sensible men; judge for yourselves what I say (1Co 10:11-15)”. The end of ages to which Paul is referring is the event of Christ. Again here we are warned of not adoring humans or idols. Paul is doing like washing his hands that everyone carries his own fate as he says: “I speak as to sensible men; judge for yourselves”. The judgment is for us to do; nobody is forced to speak against these false prophets. But the awareness that we are given is for us to be driven as blinds towards an abyss. Because the people who are following these prophets are just like goats taken to slaughter there is no freedom for them. They just have to obey to what these self proclaimed men of God force them to do and they have to adore them as their gods. Travelling in this same phase of the “ALREADY” and “NOT YET” accomplished end of times, we see that what the prophets of today are telling us is totally outdated. The most passages that they use to make us afraid have been there for almost 2000 yrs now. They run to the destruction of the world with Earthquakes, Floods, Thunderstorms, diseases, misfortunes in one’s own life….. Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew is said to begin his public ministry after John the Baptist was arrested. After John there have never been any prophets apart from Jesus Himself. There is no one as a prophet but every one of us can be a prophet to the world. Not for prophesying the end of the world, not for being rich out the misery of the poor, but for seeing visions that will help change the life of the poor in this in-human world. The book of the Acts of the Apostles quotes a very significant text from the Old Testament, from the Prophet Joel (2:28-29), this is shown in the book of the Acts: “And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; yea, and on my menservants and my maidservants in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. And I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth beneath, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and manifest day. And it shall be that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Act 2:17-21)”. The Apostle Peter when he was giving out this speech to the people he said it was it was in the last time, people thought they were all drunk when they begun speaking in tongues. These gifts today seem to be everywhere. Here we can see one of the questions above answered. The HOLY GHOST is still operating in our daily lives; GOD will still pour his Holy Spirit on us. But we must be careful with this part of the bible. NOT Every man who dreams: having a CAR, having a good WIFE, having MONEY, they conclude it is GOD speaking to them, telling them to begin a sect, e fellowship and that whoever comes have to pay them though they claim not to be vendors of God’s Blessings. These people are not guided by GOD but by the thirsty of power and riches. The God they have is a God of RICHES and not GOD of the POOR. Having this in mind we can now go on to see the guiding passages and then we try to give more answers to the questions we have had before. In the long conversation between Jesus and the people at the temple after the offerings of the rich men and the poor woman in Luke 21:1-38, we hear how our Lord is talking about ‘the end times’ but in all what the Lord says, though it might be very tough, frightening, heart breaking, Jesus is always giving a sign of hope as we have seen in the Old Testament times. Nothing is completely lost, says the Lord Jesus to us. One of the questions we have had before was to examine if the message that these self proclaimed men of God preach to us is having any truth in it or not. It is so sad because these people just use the bible as an instrument of personal interest and not words of GOD. When they need to take away from us in a barbaric way, but in the name of God as already Jesus Christ warned us: “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheeps clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will know them by their fruits (Mat 7:15-20)”. The Lord Jesus wishes that we have our eyes open. The messages that he gave to the people listening to him in that time is still an actual message to us today. ‘Beware of False prophets!’ these prophets can really devour your bones; they don’t care if one will lose his way. They are really like ravenous wolves, they are hungry of power and all they need is to be famous. The danger is that these people are masterful and sophisticated in their Christian appearance and mimicry. The apostle wrote to the Corinthians: “And what I do I will continue to do, in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is not strange if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds (2Co 11:12-15)”. These false prophets are figured out as Paul stated it. They disguise themselves as men of God but they are servants of Satan. They only think about money, not the good for the people. They are liars and thieves, harvesting where they did not plant. John the Apostle described these men in the book of the Revelation as: “Then I saw another beast which rose out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon (Rev 13:11)”; How many words are they making us believe they are true men of God. They present themselves as a lamb but they are dragons. “For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty (Rev 16:14)”: How many presidents have we seen going to consult these people? Making propaganda for these demons so that their nations can follow suit? But all these things are not from God, and the Lord had warned us to be really claver as snakes. I was talking about the words that Jesus used in the Gospel of Luke 21:1-38, this passage among others provide a very good use of the end times by these prophets but they don’t read the Gospel as it was written. Jesus taught that the Kingdom of God is near. This Kingdom proclaimed by Jesus, is the same Kingdom that these false prophets say they preach. But in what way do they preach? I wish to use this passage for the rest of this reflection, one could choose to use many other parallel (Mark 13:1- ff; Matthew 24: 1-ff) passages but for an understanding purpose I will use this passage of Luke. Because it happened to me that one day I listened to one of these false prophets. And this is how they read the Bible: “And they asked him, Teacher, when will this be, and what will be the sign when this is about to take place? And he said, Take heed that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name, saying, `I am he! and, `The time is at hand! Do not go after them. And when you hear of wars and tumults, do not be terrified; for this must first take place, but the end will not be at once (Luk 21:7-9)”. We need first to emphasize that Jesus makes as an addition to the prophesy of the end of times. These apocalyptic messages come with their own Comforts: “DO NOT BE TERRIFIED; FOR THIS MUST TAKE PLACE, BUT THE END WILL NOT BE AT ONCE”. But when these false prophets read such devastating messages, they make us afraid. They terrify us saying it’s now the end. Yet Jesus told us is not the end. When they read these passages, they don’t go to pronounce the words of comfort that in it are found, but; “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom (Luk 21:10); And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken (Luk 21:25-26)”. So what they only know to do it choose to use these words in order for them to acquire what they need. The put terrible misfortunes in our lives in the name of saving us for the end times are near. And we as Christians we need really to be claver, know what to choose and what to live. Our days are being put to danger by these men of the last days. They see any misery in the family connected to the last days. So they say: pay us such, such amount of money and this will come to pass if not it’s the end for you. Or they say they don’t make us pay for their services yet they are making us become bankrupt. People in these sects and with these prophets are losing all their servings in the name of giving abundantly to God. But our God is not after money; our God does not sell His blessings. He is a loving God he cannot leave us fall prey of the predators in His name. These False prophets are predators, they devour our faith, and so us we believe that being in our homes in our churches our prayers are not listened to by God the Father. They say if you need deliverance come with us, if you need healing come with us, if you need massive success come with us. The God you are praying has no powers to heal you? Have no powers to deliver you? Have no powers to give you success? No! Dear brothers and sisters, our GOD is able. Don’t you just believe what these people are feeding you? These people just get advantage of our situations. They are dreamers of circumstances, prophets of adventures, prophets of circumstances. They have their ground of play, and thus in our hearts, they are in a tag of war against Jesus. Because who so ever follow them you become then as addicted to them as a drug dependant. Without my prophet I can’t do anything, I can’t walk out of home. But what you have to know is that our God is powerful, He cures, He blesses and He does not fail. He answers our prayers though He does not give us immediate answers as we may wish to have. This is the problem why we feel like God does love us, He does not care for us anymore; He is not willing to grant us our prayers. But the real problem is how we ask from Him as I had shown last week that to pray is not to demand or command God. Let’s stop demanding, let us learn how to pray not with the false prophets but within ourselves. What did Jesus tell us about Prayer? “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. And in praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. (Mat 6:5-8)”. Let’s take this as our model and open wide our hearts to see through the tricks of these False prophets. They just add and multiply words so that we believe they really pray. Showing off themselves in TVs, telling us to touch the screen for healing and this is what they call prayer. But can we be healed only by the power of their prayer? Not at all! We need to un cover these people so that many others should fall in their trap. Whenever one falls in their trap, the only way to move out from there is by depression. And men have really been depressed for they never got in time what they were promised to have. And many of these they go depressed is not only because they never got what they wanted but also that they have spent all their servings and they have got nothing. Let us un cover these false prophets. These are Dragons in an Angel’s wings. They play with our minds so that we believe they perform miracles. They have no truth in what they do, their miracles are not true. We have just to ask ourselves: How many people attend their sermons? How many get healed? How many receive the power of their wonders? Nobody does. Their percentage is 1/100%. They sell their anointing water yet we in the Catholic Church have the Blessed water that you can get for free. They sell they say oil for deliverance, yet you can have blessed only from your church. It’s a pity they are making their lives over our disgrace. There message of the end of times is nothing that the way to get more riches. Jesus told us even though you will see: wars, quarrels, family divisions, violence, diseases, deaths everywhere, earthquakes, floods…… and what have you to name. All this will have to pass but is not yet the end!
