FAQ Friday! How important is GPA for pre-health students? GPA is very important, because it is an indicator of how well you will do in professional school. Your overall GPA, as well as your BCPM (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math) sciences GPA, are both reviewed when you apply to school. The admissions committee will look for trends in your academic performance. However, a high GPA doesnt guarantee admission, nor does a low GPA guarantee rejection. The University of Minnesota Schools utilize a holistic review process. GPA is only one of the factors considered in the admissions process. Other admissions criteria include test scores, the quality of the application, the personal statement, the admissions interview, and relevant experience. Have more questions?
