FARMERS DONATE TO YOUTH GAMES Mosisedi Commercial Farmers Association has donated P20 000 cash and seven tonnes of watermelons to African Youth Games (AYG). Mosisedi farms is a joint venture of Mosi and Sedibeng farms located in the Borolong-Good Hope area. Speaking at the sponsorship launch in Gaborone on May 13 the acting minister of Youth Sports and Culture, Vincent Seretse said the donation was a special kind because Mosisedi had not only made monetary donation but had even donated water melons. He said water melons were part of Batswana’s lives as agriculture was a backbone of economy and hence Batswana would show visiting nations how they prided themselves with their own products. Seretse said this was a challenge and motivation to all the other farmers out there to come on board and offer assistance to sport. “You should be role models and offer mentorship to youngsters who may have interest in agriculture,” he said.Mosisedi Farmers Commercial Farmers Association’s Quett Rabai said when the Botswana African Youth Games Organising Committee (BAYGOC) approached them they did not think twice but saw it fit to heed the call and make a donation. He said since they are running a farming business they saw it fitting to top up the donation with water melons which will be dessert to the athletes during the games. Rabai said he hopes the athletes will be motivated by the donation and perform to the best of their ability.
