FASCHISM IN UKRAINE Many families split up because of the political differences The newspaper ‘USA today ’informs that the Ukrainian crisis has led many Ukrainian families to breakups because of the support of one or the other sides of this conflict. The publication gives the family of Anna and Vladislav Rychenko as an example, whose marriage was dissolved because of their political disagreements: Anna is a Ukrainian nationalist and Vladislav sympathizes with the militiamen of Donbass. According to the ‘USA Today’, Anna and Vladislav met in 2005 and fell in love, despite the difference in the political preferences. However, when the Ukrainian conflict gained momentum, spouses began to argue with each other and they had to split up in fine. Anna with her son moved to Kiev and Vladislav stayed in Donetsk. It is not the only case when the conflict in Ukraine became a reason for the antagonism in the family. ‘The conflict has separated regions, destroyed marriages, set brothers and sisters, parents and children against each other,’ – ‘USA Today’ reports. The conflict in the country turned into tensions between 30- year-old Vitaliy Dzivoroniuk and his parents who live in Severodonetsk. According to the story of Vitaliy, who left Donbass several years ago, he was shocked after he had known his father had voted ‘for’ in a referendum on self-determination of DPR. ‘Many people in Donbass, who hadn’t cared about politics before, suddenly began to look at things seriously ’,- had said 37-year old Maxim Butchenko, who moved from town Rovenki of Luhansk region to Kiev 2 years ago. He used to get along with his parents and brother, who stayed in the Eastern Ukraine, but several months ago father began to call him ‘fascist’. They stopped communicating after that. Maxim’s brother, according to his words, joined the militiamen and began to fight against the Ukrainian army. Butchenko thinks that disagreements has taken roots so deeply, that many families and neighbors won’t be able to renew normal relations regardless of what the future of Ukraine will be.
