FATE OF POLICE STATION HEATS UP COUNCIL DEBATE . . . Voices rose and tempers flared during a city council debate Monday over the proposed new St. Thomas police station. Council debated a suggestion from Ald. Mark Cosens to hold a town hall meeting to answer questions about the proposed station, which would be built on land adjacent to the Timken Centre. Ald. Gord Campbell noted the city is trying to determine what a new station would cost and said until council has that information, “I dont think theres very much we can do.” Campbell raised the issue of misinformation about the project, citing a recent YouTube video with appearances by Cosens and Ald. Jeff Kohler. “Its time, maybe, we cut back on our efforts with the video contacts,” Campbell said. “Lets get the facts in front of us. Then we can make a decision.” Referencing the video, Kohler agreed there is misinformation about the project and said he took the opportunity to make sure his side was being communicated correctly.
