FBI POLITICAL AND LEADERSHIP DIALOGUE IS APC A NEW POLITICAL PARTY? SUNNY NEJI: As Politicians align and re-align. As they encamp and decamp it gets me wondering if its all for the sake of the people or are they just doing business. Abeg make I enter studio go do my own business...second bass ojare.... CHANNELS TV Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar has explained his defection to the All Progressives Party, APC to have been motivated by the loss of direction in the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. Abubakar said that the PDP was no more the same party that he co-founded, as it has lost direction and all its true meaning. He regretted that all efforts to put the party back on track had proved abortive. Speaking to Channels Television News At 10, he accused the party leadership of consistently ignoring reports submitted by different committees towards reposition the party. GEORGE ONYEJIUWA: No less than five thousand members of the Peoples Democratic Party at the weekend defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The mass defection was the major highlight of the civic reception held for Senator Osita Izunaso by the Orlu senatorial zone. The ceremony held at the Orlu Township Stadium in Orlu Local Government Area, was witnessed by national leaders of the APC, including the National Vice President Southeast, Dr. Anyim Nyerere, National Organizing Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso, Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, Senator Chris Ngige, among others. BISHOP MATTHEW HASSAN KUKAH This is where we who are not in politics must be very conscious. Politics is like a marriage, because if a married man is quarrelling with his wife, it does not mean they will separate tomorrow. A lot of public discourse or arguments in Nigeria today are as a result of the selfish reason of our greedy politicians. It is considerable now that people in PDP would still probably go to APC and those in APC would probably cross over to PDP and so on. For Nigerian politicians, it only depends on where food is easy to get. This is the reality when talking politics in Nigeria. That is why their grandstandings are always heating the polity. The issue of whether the President should have come from the North, whether Jonathan should go or stay, are all about personal interest and they use media to achieve such aim. Though, there may be nothing wrong with such opinions, the most important thing is to know who and who represent our aspirations. For us who are spectators, we need to learn not to cry more than the bereaved because when the politicians will solve their differences, you might still be in the dark. MY RESPONSE (FBI) The main reason being put forward by APC members for the emergence of their political party is that PDP has failed our nation. PDP has been accused of everything imaginable. While I don’t think the PDP is guiltless of the accusations leveled against it by the APC; something bothers me: APC claims to be a new political party with brand new solutions to “liberate” us from hell… but is that true? Is APC a new political party… with new ideas? If PDP is that bad why is APC poaching its members? Is this not a case of saying you won’t touch the pot used in cooking dog meat while you are busy munching the meat? Will the members of PDP moving to APC operate the “New” party in a different way? Just step back and take a look at APC… does it look different from the PDP? It seems to me that PDP members are just changing their shirts. I don’t think APC has any moral justification to criticize PDP with most of PDP members in their ranks. According to Tuface Idibia “e be like say they wan start another movie again” Look at this script: Buhari in 2007: All PDP leaders are corrupt and evil. Buhari in 2013: Let me now give you our APC membership form, for you, (Obasanjo), to fill in. Tinubu in 2007: Evil PDP is the problem with Nigeria, since 1999. Obasanjo and his Cronies have held this country hostage, since 1999. Tinubu in 2013: Nobody here can claim to have more information than you, (Obasanjo), that is why we want you in APC as Navigator. But what can we do? We can’t just sit back and let them do their own business while we do our own … as if when they ruin this nation we can still do our businesses. Let’s engage the political landscape… hold town hall and village square meetings… sensitize the people… lets rise above party politics and affiliations… lets speak out… Our voices and actions can influence their primaries and our nation’s future!
