FCDA - N64 Billion Millennium Tower Ready by Dec. 2014 Senator Iroegbu The Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) has disclosed that the N64 billion Millennium Tower and Cultural Spine, being built at the Central Area of Abuja Federal Capital City (FCC), would be completed by December 2014. It has also embarked on about 65 infrastructural projects of various magnitudes that were at various stages of completion. The Director of Public Building, Architect Bernard Lot made this disclosure yesterday, during a press briefing by the Directors of FCDA on the activities and achievements of the authority. According to Lot, a total of N49 billion has so far been spent on the Millennium Tower project. He said that the project has gone very far, pointing out that the test running by the Millennium Towers would be carried out within the next three weeks. He stated that the total height of the tower was 110 meters and that the components include restaurant, a national square, which will eventually take over from Eagle Square. The tower is being built in such a way that security considerations have been factored in, especially in view of the strategic location of the tower between other national monuments, such as the Central Bank headquarter, the National Christian Centre and the Central Mosque among others, he added. In a related development, the Deputy Director of Engineering, FCDA, Mr. Ben Ukpong noted that 40 out of the 65 projects of the FCDA were at various stages of completion, with 24 of them 80 per cent completed, while six were ready for commissioning. We have about 65 ongoing projects; 40 were at various stage of completion, 23 are 80 per cent6 completed and six are ready for commissioning. We have completed the expansion of airport base Lots 2 and it is ready for commissioning; Lot 1 cost N59 billion while lot 2 cost N49 billion, Ukpong explained.
