FIFA recommend ZIFA to have only one 1st division league All teams in the lower tier league are set to compete in one league for promotion into the PSL. This would be possible if the world football mother body Fifa amends the Zifa constitution to align with current standards. Fifa expressed concern over the scenario where the Premier Soccer League relegated and promoted four teams, which they said was to excessive for a 16 team league. Under the proposed set up, two teams will be promoted to the top tier league with the same number being demoted. A three man Fifa delegation that was in Harare also said it was not logical for the PSL to relegate four teams out top flight football. It emerged that Fifa might recommend Zimbabwe to change this format after a review of the amended constitution. Fifa had a two week intense consultation conducted to help the troubled Zifa correct its otherwise shambolic constitution. According to Xolani Gwesela, Zifa’s communications manager, the Fifa delegation that visited Zimbabwe recently assured it would be through with amendments to the constitution in a week’s time. The Fifa delegates who were in the country are James Johnson, Simone Studer and Ashford Mamelodi. The three soccer administrators had a mandate to align the Zifa constitution with current Fifa statutes.
