FIFTEEN MINUTES WITH JESUS IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT My child, it is not necessary to know much to please me much. I ask only that you love me much. Speak very simply to me here present as you would speak to your mother or to your brother or sister. Do you feel the urge to ask me a favor for someone? Tell me his or her name. Perhaps there are several: your spouse, your parents, your brothers and sisters, or certain friends who need help. Don’t hesitate to tell me what you want for them. Ask for plenty; don’t be afraid. I love generous souls who forget themselves in their desire to help others. Speak to me very simply and plainly of the poor you would like to console, of the sick you would like to relieve, of the “lost sheep” you would like to bring back, of the distant friends you would like to see. Breathe a prayer for them a loving prayer, a fervent prayer, a heart-felt prayer. Remind me that I have promised to heed all and every one of your requests coming from the deepest of your heart. And surely the requests you make for those you especially love, come from the heart. And don’t you need anything for yourself? Make a list of your needs, if you like, and read it to me. Tell me, for example, that you are tempted with pride, envy, sensuality-that you are selfish, inconstant, neglectful and ask me to help your efforts, however feeble, to overcome these problems. Don’t be discourage my child. Some of the greatest saints in Heaven had these same temptations and faults; but they prayed with humility, and little by little they were freed from them. Don’t hesitate to ask me for corporal as well as spiritual favors: health, memory, success in your work, business or studies. I am most willing to give you all such things. But I trust you will ask on the condition that the particular request will not hinder your sanctification. What do you need right now? What can I do to help you? If you only knew how much I want to bless you! Do you have some project in mind right now? Tell me all about it. What are your plans? What are your hopes? What are your fears? What would you like for your parents, for your brothers and sisters, for your children, for your friends, for your superiors? What I can do for them? If you still have your parents, ask me to bless them. Prayers for one’s father and mother are especially pleasing to me, who so love my own father and mother. If you have a spouse, pray confidently to me for him or her, and I will make your home a temple of love and peace, and shower over your family all the graces and blessings you need to be happy and for me? Don’t you wish for my greater glory? Doesn’t it sadden you that some of your closest friends and neighbor are living entirely oblivious of me? Don’t you wish you could bring them close to me? Tell me what particularly occupies your attention today what you especially desire and how you hope to obtain it. If your hopes and desires are not realized, ask me why, and I shall tell you, though perhaps later. Would you care to have me make you better loved by someone I am master of hearts, and I gently move them to love without feeling any pressure. Do you feel sad or out of sorts? Tell me about it, my poor child. Give me all he reason for your sadness or chagrin. Who offended you? Who hurt your pride? Who let you down? Come close to my heart. It has the remedy for all your ells. Confide them all to me, and you will soon find consolation and peace. You may ever find yourself forgiving those who hurt you as I forgave my enemies who crucified me. Are you, perhaps, worried or afraid? Do you feel a strange depression that seems without cause, or too excessive for what causes it? Throw yourself into the arms of my loving providence. I am with you. I see the problem and I knew how to solve it. I will never let you down. Do you feel an estrangement on the part of certain friends, who seem to have forgotten you even though you have done nothing to offend them? Pray for them, and I will re-enkindle their friendship, unless I see them as a danger to your soul. Don’t you have some happiness to share with me? Why not let me enjoy it with you? After all, I am your best friend. Tell me what has pleased you or consoled you or given you satisfaction since our last visit. Were there any pleasant surprises? Perhaps and old grudge has disappeared, or perhaps you have receive some good news, a letter, a sign of affection or you may have overcome a difficulty or escaped from an unforeseen predicament. It has really all been my work; I have carried you through. You can thank me, if you wish, very simple, as a child would thank his father. And your thanks will bring you a new blessings. Even your God likes to be appreciated. How about resolving something to do to please me? See several things in your life that you might like to change. They may not seem obvious to others, but I see them, and I am sure you are painfully aware of them. Why not resolve to do your best to avoid that certain temptation? To keep away from that occasion of sin that makes you fall? To guard your eyes from that magazine or television program that excites your passions? To avoid as far as possible that person who upsets your peace of soul? Why not try to be more understanding, charitable and forgiving with that friend who offended you and who now seems to want to make up? Now, my child, you can return to your regular routine to your work, to your family, to your studies, but please do not forget these Fifteen Minutes of precious conversation that we have had here in the quiet of this church. Try to let shine in your daily life the virtues you have pondered here, virtues like silence, modesty, recollection, reconciliation with your neighbor. Love and honor my mother and yours, the Virgin Mary. Come again soon with a heart ever more loving and devoted to me. You will find in my heart ever increasing love, consolation and inspiration.
