FILL THE BUCKET FOR NEPAL CHALLENGE! Thanks to Anne Mc Guiness who bravely dumped a bucket of ice water on her head to forego the ALS challenge and chose instead to add a Nepali twist and contribute to the Fill a Bucket for Nepali landslide victims. I have accepted the challenge and have decided to contribute two buckets (do I still need to dump a bucket of ice water on my head? This is unclear although I would kind of like to do it - looks really refreshing). Please send a bucket to flood/landslide victims in Nepal. You can now do it online from anywhere in the world. Please nominate your friends as well. I have decided to fill two buckets (although I have had to ask Anne to do it for me as I dont have access to a credit card, being that I live in the third world, globalized in every other sense, but unconnected to the rest of the world as far as e-commerce goes). This looks legit to me. Hope you will match it! We cant wait for our government to make funds reach the most vulnerable citizens and from reports, it looks like there is a real need. Lets do our bit, even thought its not much. Id wanted to contribute in some way to the landslide victims in Nepal. Sadly, the news got drowned out by the news of Modi visiting India (Sherpas should thank their karma Modi was not visiting when the April avalanche happened; forgive me in advance - but what would my posts be without my deviations, and pointing out the occasional ironies in life). Anyhow, this looks like a perfect opportunity and also a time-saving one (as many modern day slaves to the Gregorian calendar and moms of young babies will attest, doing hands on on the ground work can be challenging time-wise so kudos to those who are on the ground and everyone contributing in their own way). I nominate two fellow Nepali-Yale alums Ruma Rajbhandari Kapil Mishra and ask them to pass it on quickly so we can keep the momentum going! Anyone else - Nepali or non-Nepali - who reads this post is also of course welcome to contribute - I am not really one for calling out particular people like this - but oh well, looks like this is the nature of this thing. Anyways, anyone is also welcome to dump a bucket of ice water on their head. Or do nothing also. cartmandap/fillthebucket
