FINCA JORDAN Marketing Manager Job Description REPORTS TO CEO Location: Amman Central Office BASIC FUNCTIONS The Marketing Manager is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of FINCA Jordan’s marketing strategy, in close collaboration with the CEO and FINCA Jordan Marketing Working Group. The Marketing Manager will develop and maintain systems to collect continuous market intelligence, and will create tools to enable efficient and reliable analysis of market information. The Marketing Manager will lead the effort to enhance FINCA Jordan’s image and increase its outreach through high impact advertising and promotion activities, and public relations activities. He or she will be responsible for oversight and development of the Marketing Department. He or she will provide support in other areas, including the wider institutional development of FINCA Jordan, as required. MAJOR ACTIVITIES Market Intelligence and Marketing Strategy (25%) Develop and maintain systems to collect continuous market intelligence for management decision-making, including market research on competitor products, services, and strategies, FINCA Jordan’s image and competitive position in the market, the effectiveness of FINCA Jordan’s advertising and promotion activities, and other aspects. Enhance the interactive relationship between marketing, operations, training, and policy in the subsidiary. Create tools to distill and analyze market intelligence data, to enable efficient management decision-making. Provide senior management with regular market intelligence reports, as required. Serve as liaison with third-parties engaged in market research activities, as needed, to ensure that services provided are efficient and effective. Monitor the mass media for references to FINCA Jordan, and prepare regular reports to management on findings. Chair the FINCA Jordan Marketing Working Group, and lead the process of developing and documenting comprehensive, multi-year marketing strategies and annual marketing plans to ensure that FINCA Jordan delivers the right message to the desired audiences as efficiently and effectively as possible. (Working group established in tandem with other company working groups) Advice and compliment the Credit Department responsibilities in providing accurate and up to date information relevant to market expansion and product development Marketing Communications / Advertising & Promotion (25%) Design, prepare, and ensure placement of advertising and promotion materials, including billboards, posters, brochures, and other materials, as well as television and radio spots, in collaboration with the CEO providing critical input to all aspects of the process as needed, including oversight of third-parties involved in the process. Write and edit communications and marketing materials including eye catching publications for prints and online, fact-sheets, briefing papers, speeches and position papers. Manage all aspects of print, production, receipt and distribution of all printed materials to the branches. Use expertise in print production and media purchasing to ensure best price is obtained. Communicate with FINCA International regarding FINCA Corporate Global Branding standards and ensure that all FINCA Jordan materials comply with the FINCA International standards. Develop relationships with key media, pitches stories, develop creative ideas for media outreach and planning. Build and maintain relationships with journalists and other media to raise the profile of FINCA and increase participation of people and businesses in FINCA organized events. Coordinate and ensure the execution of advertising and promotion campaigns on the national level and regional level, ensuring consistency of marketing messages. Recommend appropriate media channels for targeted distribution of key messages, based on market research and intelligence. Negotiate arrangements with third-party firms, as assigned, to prepare and place advertisements and promotional materials. Manage vendors including graphic designers, photographers and PR resources. Maintain, update and develop FINCA Jordan’s website. Creates on-line communications including alerts and news regarding FINCA’s products and services. Public Relations (20%) Identify and create public relations documents and materials as required. Provide editorial direction on the design and content, as well as production and distribution of all public relations materials. Under the direction of the CEO, act as the organization’s representative to the media, developing and maintaining relationships with key members of the media as appropriate. Prepare and distribute regular press releases containing news updates and information about FINCA Jordan. Ensure the quality and accuracy of press releases with pro-active follow up to secure media coverage. Write articles, including client stories or other content, as required, for placement in newspapers, magazines, internet sites, or other media, or to meet donor requirements. Research external platforms such as conferences and events to raise the visibility of FINCA. Organize media appearances, public speaking events, and other opportunities for FINCA Jordan personnel, including senior management, to enhance the image of the organization. Coordinate special events, as required, to ensure the highest possible public relations value to the organization. Attends and represents FINCA Jordan as required at conferences, events and other meetings relevant to FINCA’s business. Liaise, as required, with FINCA International communications and marketing personnel. Performance Management and Staff Development (20%) Performance Planning Review corporate goals and objectives in order to align individual and team goals with the organization’s ones. Work with each direct report and/or team to define goals, objectives including special short and long term targets, performance standards and measures to evaluate desired results. Assure that subordinates have a clear understanding of what performance results and behaviors are expected from them. Assure that each direct report is equipped with all technical, administrative and material resources necessary to achieve required level of performance. Document pre-evaluation performance plan for each employee. Managing Performance throughout the Year Supervise activities of direct reports and conduct regular meetings to review progress on the approved plans, exchange feedback. Obtain and use feedback from internal and external customers, team members, coworkers concerning employee performance. Address issues arising from daily operations, make adjustments in previously set performance plan if need be. Performance Evaluation Timely conduct performance appraisal sessions according to the affiliate’s (organization’s) established schedule and procedure. Discuss and agree on employee development needs, and prepare a detailed development plan for the next period. Complete the Evaluation Form, meet with the employee to discuss the rating, and submit a signed copy of the form to Human Resources. Staff Development Create and maintain positive working environment to the highest ethical level; promote mutual respect, understanding, trust and cooperation among all team members. Advocate and commit to ongoing training and development to foster a learning culture. If need be, provide mentoring, coaching, counseling to subordinates to help them improve their performance, develop necessary skills and potential for career advancement. Recognize and encourage employees’ initiatives, contributions on overall organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Closely participate in employee selection process to discover opportunities for individual’s career development/planning. Departmental Management & Institutional Development – (10%) Manage the Marketing Department, ensuring that the Department operates smoothly and that it is responsive to organizational requirements. Develop annual marketing plan in conjunction with Financial Services department, which details activities to follow during the fiscal year and which will focus on fulfilling the organization’s objectives. Support FINCA Jordan’s annual planning and budgeting processes, ensuring that the marketing budget detail is based on current prices for the range of services required. Responsible for Marketing Department staff development. Ensure delivery of marketing activity within agreed budget and responsible for direction of marketing staff where budgets are devolved. Other specific marketing-related tasks assigned by the CEO, as required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS At least four years of experience as a marketing manager in a private sector firm. University degree and/or advanced certification in marketing, communications, or related field. Fluency in English and Arabic languages including ability to write well in both languages. Excellent analytical skills and organizational skills. Excellent communications skills, including public speaking ability Creative design skills, including graphic design, are strongly preferred. Knowledge of systems and tools, including statistical software, for collecting and analyzing market information is preferred. Experience in media relations and other public relations aspects is also preferred. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
