FIRST WINNER FOR KING’S APOSTLE Klawervlei Stud’s well performed young sire, King’s Apostle, got off the mark as a sire when his son National King won impressively at Clairwood Park on Wednesday. The first runner for his sire, National King went one better on his debut second when running out a facile winner by 2.25 lengths. Bred by Klawervlei, National King is out of the National Assembly mare, National Delux. King’s Apostle, whose first crop are now two, was an outstanding sprinter. Rated 121 by Timeform, he won seven races including the G1 Prix Maurice De Gheest (where King’s Apostle accounted for a world-class field) and the G2 Diadem Stakes. A son of English 2000 Guineas winner King’s Best (Champion Sire in France in 2010), King’s Apostle’s dam, Politesse, is a daughter of champion miler Barathea and champion 2yo filly, Embassy. King’s Apostle has some choicely bred yearlings on offer at the 2014 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, and buyers would be foolhardy to overlook them!
