FISHING REPORT - 11/6/2013 Leslie Dam: Leslie Dam lure action remains very quiet with local anglers reporting on a few fish being landed near the Washpool early on Saturday morning. They managed to land these fish while trolling the bank in approximately 15 feet of water. With the cooler weather upon us, the Murray Cod should start to become more active. There was a report of a Yangan angler landing a nice 64cm Cod on a spinnerbait in the rocks opposite the dam wall. Bait fishermen reported of thing being quiet with most anglers reporting on only landing odd fish on shrimps and saltwater yabbies. The best area for the anglers using bait is up in the “Black Boy” area. Connolly Dam: There hasn’t been much change at Connolly Dam since last week’s report. Anglers targeting Murray Cod bagged a few undersized fish on spinnerbaits. There have been no reports of legal sized Cod. The odd Golden Perch and Silver Perch were landed off the bank near the dam wall on bait. Moogerah Dam / Maroon Dam: Moogerah has been quite erratic with some anglers landing some good Bass while others couldn’t even raise a bite. Casting the edges with TN60 Jackalls and Imakatsu Piranha were quite successful in bagging a few fish. There were also reports of a few Bass being landed on Ice-jigs in the main basin to the east of the camping ground boat ramp. Maroon Bass are still hiding in the weed with anglers fishing weedless plastics having the most success. There were a few Bass landed on suspending minnows. Live shrimps produced some nice Bass in the timber just off to the right of the boat ramp. Rivers: The local river system in the town area is still fishing quite well. Bait is having the most success with some quality Golden Perch being landed on saltwater yabbies and shrimps. Shrimps area becoming a little harder to find due to the cooler water temperatures. There were reports of a few undersized Murray Cod landed in the Condamine River. Dalrymple Creek, to the west of Allora, saw a few anglers land some nice Golden Perch over the weekend. The fish have been quite active in the good holes.
