FIVE REASONS WHY I SUPPORT HON. MBABAZI AMAMA’S PRESIDENTIAL BID AS AN INDEPENDENT MINDED UGANDAN 1. Ugandans need to learn and appreciate the fact that Uganda did not start with President Museveni and it will not end with him. True he has been such a blessing to Uganda through his vision and service to the people of Uganda HOWEVER 30yrs in presidency for God’s sake is too much whatever he has not achieved there is no hope he can achieve it because he is not growing younger. The computer age and a new technology revolution has caught up with him, he needs to retire or be retired no matter how good he is and admittedly has been good by percentage no matter the short comings which will always be there even with any other president. 2. Iam one of the people who believe in the law of neutrality; We need neutral people but not extremists to take us through the political transition from President Museveni’s presidency and Hon. Amama Mbabazi offers this opportunity because he will not antagonize greatly the current set up and at the same time he will not fight a lot of political battles with the opposition. Otherwise our current opposition leaders like President Museveni are extremists whose presidency has dire political consequences. 3. Hon. Mbabazi’s experience, wealth, age will not allow him to harbor life presidency ambitions infact if he became president we would be sure of trekking a line where political transition in Uganda will be peaceful but not military coups. 4. Hon. Amama Mbabazi’s presidency would be great at this stage because there is need to change the political set up of the country; President Museveni could be willing to fight corruption and develop Uganda but he will not be able to do this because it would antagonize his military colleagues, family members and the entire institutional set up. A neutral like Hon. Amama can come up with a new set up and thus solve the dilemma president Museveni cannot resolve because of the above. 5. Lastly there is urgent need to demilitarize Uganda’s politics; President Museveni having been an army man has time and again failed despite all attempts to disassociate the Military from politics that’s why we have Army in Parliament, Army officers as policemen, ministers, running government projects etc which spells doom for the country because history shows you can never trust the political power with the army. Hon. Amama being a civilian my restore a civilian rule in the politics of Uganda. It is my opinion that President Museveni should have been the first to support his Prime Minister’s bid for presidency because this does not only guarantee him security BUT it also guarantees Ugandans a peace political power transition. I therefore support Hon. Amama Mbabazi’s bid for presidence though he has let me down with his utterances. Peace be upon Uganda and all Ugandans, For God and my Country.
