FOOD FOR THOUGHT: MY TWO-CENTS Ms. Hendrick, (ONE OF THE COMMENTERS) With all due respect, I understand your point --- really I do, but its very doubtful that a parental beat down could possibly be an effective part of a solution. In fact that line of thinking is part of the same general mentality that produces, and, as another commenter noted, reproduces this type of sickness. To tell you the truth, when things get to this level, its not even about the parents so much (since its clear that they probably need the most serious kind of ongoing counseling, if not extensive pathological help --- literally). So, a critically important question and issue becomes --- how do WE figure out effective ways of appropriately, consistently, and systematically (as opposed to hit-and-miss, scatter-gun approaches) of intervening on behalf of such babies, and effectively mitigating the life-altering, profoundly damaging effects that they will likely experience? This type of madness is, as another commenter observed, literally robbing babies of innocence, which without timely, appropriate, and effective intervention, is sometimes irreplaceable. This really is very sick and sad, and the poster is on point in asking US --- that if this makes us ashamed --- then how do WE replace that shame with a helping hand, especially for the innocent child / children?
