FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Our Approachable God. Scripture Reading: Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3. Message: Years ago i arrived at Heathrow airport in London, and trying to find the man who was to take me Edinburgh where i would give a few inspired messages. It was my first time to get to such a very busy airport. I really got lost or confused. I saw an airport employee and walked up to him and said, Excuse me sir, can you tell me where the exit is? How do i get out of this very busy terminal? He turned to me with a loud booming voice, You want to know how to get of this respective terminal? Try walking! He then turned his back on me, indicating that the conversation was over. As i walked along, still uncertain as to which way i should go in order to get out of the terminal building, i thought, What if God treated us like that? What if when we went to the Lord in prayer with our requests, questions, etc, and He shouted in a big booming voice for all the world to hear, What a stupid question. Imagine anyone coming to me with a foolish question like that. You are really ignorant! And then what if He turned His back on us, indicating that the conversation was over. But He never does that. He is a merciful, loving, gracious and compassionate God. His promises are always yes and Amen, meaning let it be so or so shall it be. For as long as we are obedient to His Word in everything and live a life of holiness, He will listen to our cry for mercy and help us. He is very approachable and is our present help in times of trouble. The Bible says in James 1:5, If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. God is so approachable. He is never busy to attend to our prayers. He is never moody. He is not that type of a God to whom one has to perform one or two tricks or gimmicks in order to get His attention. No! He is always merciful, compassionate, gracious, loving, forgiving and willing to render assistance. He never puts you down or makes you look like a fool. Do you face a situation today that you dont always know how to handle - something that is beyond you? Go to the Lord with it. He will never turn you away. How do you know? I know because many passges of Scripture gives that assurance. To Ponder: The Lord delights to reveal His will and His Word to those who need His help. Prayer: Lord, i am facing a situation today that is beyond my ability to handle. Give me Your wisdom to know how to deal with it, in Jesus name, Amen. Be encouraged.
