Seychelles High Commissioner accredited to Lesotho 19.03.2014 Mr Claude Morel is Seychelles’ non-resident High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Lesotho. He presented his Letters of Credentials to King Letsie III on 13th March at the Royal Palace in Maseru. In his remarks to Mr Morel, King Letsie commended Seychelles for “having managed to attain impressive economic growth rates”, for being “amongst the top-five African countries with the highest literacy rate”, and for our “impressive record in the area of good governance”. He also complimented Seychelles for “successfully co-hosting, with the UAE, the special high level event on the ‘Blue Economy’ in January 2014 to draw international attention to the need for harnessing the development potential of the oceans”. The King expressed his appreciation for “the pivotal role played by Seychelles as part of the regional effort to restore democracy and political normalcy in the sister country of Madagascar”. Mr Morel was also received by the Prime Minister, Dr Tom Thabane, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Molabi Tsekoa. Discussion with those leaders focused on the mutual desire to strengthen collaboration within the multilateral framework, particularly via the platforms of SADC and the African Union, with a view of attaining common goals and objectives. Expanding bilateral relations in the sectors of tourism, aviation, as well as trade and investment also featured in the discussion. The Seychelles Government is in the process of appointing a Lesotho national as Honorary Consul in that country.
