FOR BONG AND JINGGOY, DETENTION IS GOING TO GET MORE “COMPLICATED” Senators Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada, recently indicted on charges of plunder and corruption and detained at the Custodial Center of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame, will soon be confronted with a situation more challenging than rats and roaches. “They are approaching what game theorists call the Prisoner’s Dilemma,” said Nardong Rehas, one of the head honchos of the gang Batang City Jail and author of “Kakosa, Kalaguyo: Power Relations and Survival Strategies among Macho Males in Philippine Prisons.” “It would be interesting to know who is taking the top bunk,” said Rehas. “He would have a clear psychological advantage over the bottom guy.” But Rehas cautions observers from jumping to conclusions over this. “It is, after all, only one indicator,” he said. According to Rehas, behavior during bath time will provide a keener measure in determining which of the two males, who also appeared as action stars in movies over the years, will become dominant or subservient during their period of incarceration. “There will be a lot of soap-dropping in the showers over the next couple of weeks but what we should watch out for is who will finally bend over to pick up the soap,” he said. The PNP official at the detention facility refused to comment on the goings-on inside the jail but gave a nod, a wink and smiled knowingly. Newswires
