FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Chief Deputy Stacy Brown News Release #: 2 Date/Time: 05-27-14 @ 1525 Hours Recovery Efforts Still Underway for 5 Year Old Boy Crews continue to search for the missing 5 year old Tacoma boy who went missing in the Cispus River yesterday afternoon after accidentally riding his motorcycle into the very swift and cold river. KIRO utilized their helicopter to help the search effort earlier today. What was thought to be the boy’s helmet caught in a log jam, turned out to be the visor from his helmet which came unattached after the accident. The visor was hung up on a log jam approximately a mile downstream from where he went into the river. Crews will continue to search for the boy until night fall. The river continues to run very swift and cold making the search extremely dangerous for searchers. The terrain, steep embankments and heavy brush, is making the effort very challenging. The focus of the search has been narrowed to several log jams in the river. Further information will be released as it becomes known.
