FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: James R.Shannon Office: 773.494.3160 Book Name: Single Parenting A Black Male’s Experience; Raising a child from Birth…Part I Email Address: jrshannon2000@yahoo Website: freshstartfathers First Time Author James R.Shannon Explores Single Parenting in New Book Chicago, IL - (June 6, 2014) James Shannon grew up with a big family on the Westside of Chicago. He used his family experience to write about his most important role as a single parent who obtained sole custody of his baby daughter after being born to a mother addicted to crack-cocaine. Single Parenting A Black Male’s Experience; Raising a child from Birth…Part I is the first of a three book series for James Shannon. Shannon’s latest book is a very moving autobiography depicting the author’s ups and downs of raising a daughter who literally was written off to the foster care system. As the court system waived him of all parental obligations, Shannon knew that he had to step up as the father when no one else would, including the daughter’s maternal relatives. Shannon fought and won sole custody of his daughter, as the story depicts a wonderful recollection of a true love story between a father and his daughter. Shannon drew from his many life experiences as a single parent to write this brilliantly and compelling story that showcases a father who was thrust into parenthood overnight. Shannon states his hope is that after writing this story that more fathers will become more involved with their children’s lives and not depend on the system to raise them. “This is a true story that I felt compelled to compose after I experienced the difficulties of raising my daughter alone,” Shannon says. “So often we hear about the single mother stories, but rarely do we hear about the single father perspective and the courageous selflessness they endure during parenthood.” The author is available for interviews and speaking engagements upon requests. He can be contacted by phone at (773) 494-3160 or contact Publicist Noel Lynn Marketing Strategies at (708) 227-3503.
