FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 14, 2014 Stage 5 Water Conservation Update Copperas Cove, Texas – The City of Copperas Cove remains on the Stage 5 Emergency Water Conservation plan as a result of an interruption in the main water supply line that serves the City from the Bell County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (BCWCID No.1). Residents are asked to continue using water sparingly for matters such as consumption and personal hygiene, and to discontinue any unnecessary usage such as irrigation, washing vehicle, washing laundry, etc. The City is asking for all local restaurants to close for the evening to assist in conservation efforts, or to at least cease in the use of any City water. The City is further asking that ALL local businesses which require the use of water to operate remain closed, or again cease in the use of any City water, until 10:00am on Monday, July 14, 2014, at which point we anticipate repairs to be completed and water resources regained. As for City services, City facilities will be open for business Monday morning as scheduled. The exceptions will be that both City pools will remain closed for the day, to include all fitness and swim lesson classes being cancelled. The Hills of Cove Golf Course will also delay in opening until 10:00am. At this point the quality of water has still NOT been affected, just the quantity. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of the affected customers and updates will be provided as they become available. We encourage all citizens to visit the City of Copperas Cove website and/or Facebook page for updates on this situation, as well as all of the local media newspaper and television stations who have been actively reporting and posting updates as available. Additional information or concerns regarding this matter should be directed to Public Works at (254)547-0751 or (254)547-2416, or Kevin Keller at [email protected]
