FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Possible ISIS Leaflets Found In Quantico Virginia Quantico, Virginia – October 31, 2014 12:45 P.M. EST The Town of Quantico has been notified by the Marine Corps Base Quantico that seven leaflets were found in the town on Wednesday October 29, 2014 that appear to be possibly related to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The recent report from the Marine Corps Base Quantico indicated that the leaflets were found in town in the vicinity of River Road by an individual who worked on base. The Quantico Police Department or town administration was not initially notified of the discovery of the leaflets. It is the town’s understanding that the leaflets have been turned over to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). The town is currently in the process of collecting additional information from Marine Corps Base Quantico and NCIS on the exact location of the discovered leaflets as well as the facts and timelines surrounding their handling and analysis. The town intends to take all necessary steps to assess the authenticity of the leaflets and to communicate all relevant information to town and base residents as well as the general public. At this time there does not appear to be any increased risk persons or property.
