FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The City Needs You: Multiple Committees Call for Applications Appointments to be Considered at April 24, 2014 City Council Meeting GALVESTON, TX (April 9, 2014) – the City’s Landmark Commission and TIRZ Boards #12 and 14 have issued a call for applicants. The boards that have vacancies vary, as do the requirements to serve: Landmark Commission Position 7 This vacancy may be filled by any resident of the City of Galveston, including within a Neighborhood Conservation District or historic zoning overlay or historic district. TIRZ #12—North Broadway Two vacancies in the City Designee positions (there are a total of 5 City Designee positions on this board—3 are up for reappointment) TIRZ #14—Airport Three vacancies in the City Designee positions (there are a total of 5 City Designee positions on this board—one expires in 2015 and one is up for reappointment) To serve on TIRZ #12 and 14, board members must be 18 years of age, be a resident of the county in which the zone is located, or a county adjacent to Galveston County. Galveston City Council will consider the appointments at their Thursday, April 24, 2014 meeting.
