FOR THOSE THAT VOTE IN LYNNWOOD . . . Ian Cotton - Lynnwood City Council IS THE BEST CHOICE BY FAR! I look forward to serving my community as part of the City Council, serving in Postion #2 Hello, I’m Ian Cotton. I was born and raised in Lynnwood and earned my Eagle Scout rank while exploring the regions many national parks and forests. My wife of 10 years and I have lived in Lynnwood 10 years with our 5 year old daughter; who will go to many of the same schools I attended, and play in the same parks I played in growing up. Three generations of my family currently live in this city and I am invested in Lynnwood ’s success and growth. While working night-shift at a local manufacturer I earned my BS of Electrical Engineering from the UW. As a licensed PE and LEED-AP I now work for a local Consulting firm working as part of multi-discipline teams on behalf of Owners, Developers, Contractors and Architects. As a consultant in the construction industry I work to advocate for my clients best interest and deliver innovative designs within or under budget and on-time. I have been involved in local community both as an ACE Mentor, mentoring high school students, as a Sunday school teacher, Designing orphanages through Engineers without Borders local chapter as part of multi-functional committees (2-years) as well as spending 2-weeks in Zimbabwe to build an orphanage. I also volunteered at the Center for Wooden Boats as part of a team to restore and convert an old warehouse into a new shop for historical restoration work. My wife and I actively give back to our community. The Council needs the voice of someone who understands the pressures and needs of the next generation of Lynnwood ’s Citizens. Someone who listens when the Citizens speak. I am committed to an open and accessible atmosphere in Lynnwood government. In Government, Citizens are my clients. My goal is to maintain current services as well as plan for more financially viable and sustainable ways to increase services for our community, without defaulting to raising taxes, in order to continue to serve our growing community in a way that supports both the short-term and long-term vision of Lynnwood. I will serve this community well by advocating for responsible and sustainable government that is fiscally sound, and that is both accountable and open to the public as well as provide vision and leadership to ensure a financially viable and healthy City for today and tomorrow. A City that my parents can retire in, and where my daughter will grow and thrive. I humbly submit my name to serve you, my neighbors, to run local government on your behalf in a just and efficient manner understanding the great responsibility of the role and office I assume. Vote for me to represent you in local government.
