FOR THOSE WITH EYES TO SEE AND EARS TO HEAR ARE WIDE AWAKE AND NOT - TopicsExpress

FOR THOSE WITH EYES TO SEE AND EARS TO HEAR ARE WIDE AWAKE AND NOT BRAIN DEAD OUR PROBLEM IS The customs and traditions of our forefathers of the Cape where held together with good intention by our Cape Town Ulamaa and the laity. The knowledge propounded by our Ulamaa at the time was mostly in the realm of Fiqh, and due to their hard work, from among their many other notable achievements, we Cape Town Muslims proudly outshine today still, the rest of South Africa and elsewhere in knowledge of Fiqh, “een ding ho!”. However, not much attention was given to matters of Aqeedah and Tawheed except for “the bare basics”. Even less attention was given to correcting the practices of bid’ah and shirk which have long since become embedded in the Ummah [“vir unity” “loss maar die mense…..”]. This was due to the weak perception which is still held by some today that the bid’ah is a good “religiously binding” component in an otherwise religiously wanton society. Fair, at the time, one could say. The voice then against bid’ah came mostly with the advent of the Tableeghi Jamaat in the 60’s, supported with a few shuyuukh and some graduates from the Darul Uloom New Castle. This caused a bit of uproar at the time. Also a few individual scholars boldly spoke out and are still speaking out. “The Barelawi Menace” lectures in the ’80s. A consideration of note is that we were just blindly following practices that were handed down which we were comfortable with as it gave us some sense of togetherness and piety. There were really no beliefs held other than that it was just “gooie werke”. That was in “those days” with our “old Ulamaa” and the “old people”, due respect and honour to them all and their reward is with Allaah. These are briefly the honest realities and well known facts. THE DANGER FROM WITHIN Today the scene has changed tremendously. With the advent of the second generation and third generation of “new ulamaa” and foreign influences, deviant beliefs which were not held previously except with a few and in closed circles now are fast being attached to the “customs and traditions” of our people. For the sake of brevity it will suffice to say that these beliefs are foreign to Islaam and together with the “customs and traditions” are un-Islamic. Few “old people” were even aware of the fact that gadat etc were sufi practices or even of Sufism. Mouluud “is then” shi’ism. Unfortunately these “new ulamaa”, sadly, have fast found popularity and support with many of the sincere youth who desire coming closer to the Deen, and the deviant beliefs and practices are becoming entrenched in them with full acceptance. We can see how enthusiastic they are and how vociferously they defend these new un-Islamic ideologies. All with good intentions though, and “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”. NOTE! That it is mostly “young ulamaa” grabbing the “young people” with the draw card of “keeping up the customs and traditions of the old people”. Ja, ne. And he (sallallaahu `alaihi wasallam) commanded us, "whosoever does an action which we have not commanded then it must be rejected". (Muslim) And again, "whosoever introduces into this religion of ours that which is not part of it then it must be rejected". (Ahmad) THE SOLUTION Concurrently, (concurrently because the “popular front” thought that they could take centre stage unopposed) an awareness of the deviant nature of the “customs and traditions” has come about due to the guidance and outspokenness of concerned ulamaa, and the information explosion bringing to the fore much detailed knowledge and realities, resulting in an increasing opposing voice against the upsurge of the blatant and widespread compounding of falsehoods, bid’ah and shirk upon our community. Clearly a battle for the hearts and minds of the Muslim community of not only Cape Town but also globally. So the position is clear. A strong voice in opposition to the introduction and entrenchment of what is by their own admission, these bid’atees, not the innocent followers, to be BID’AH, here in Cape Town. Their “bid’ah hasanah” fallacy along with all their other “justifications” is in the garbage can where it belongs. This voice which stands firm upon the Quran and Sunnah and will not be silenced though the innovators hate it most! Their deviances are being exposed along with their deviant ulamaa, and our community is being given the opportunity Inshaa Allaah which we well deserve to decide for ourselves based upon clear knowledge the true and safe path towards the pleasure of Allaah. May Allaahswt grant success to, and have mercy upon and rightly guide all those sincere seekers after truth. And may Allaahswt guide towards the truth or “break their backs” as the Salaf us Saalih (our pious predecessors) used to say, those who arrogantly oppose the truth. For the record, “tassawwuuf”, fine. Singing, dancing, headshaking, break dancing, grave worshiping and all the like, is that “tassawwuuf”? No! AN APPEAL To all who agree with these few words “silently”. It’s time to come out of the closet for the sake of Allaah. We all together are needed to help quell the tide of falsehood. Please let us stand up and be counted! If this is your conviction but your ability to articulate this is weak, then please make an effort to come into an environment where you will be empowered to do so. “Do not fear the blame of the blamers”. See how bold and organized the deviants are, how they openly declare their falsehoods as if it were the truth. “The shaytaan appears strong but he is weak” And those who are apparent in this struggle need to be united beyond issues for the sake of Allaah, NOBODY is perfect, who is nobody anyway. Break the back of shaytaan! And with Allaah is the success. The Prophet (saw) said, "Islam began as something strange, and it shall return as something strange as it began. So Tooba (a tree in paradise) to the strangers." It was asked, "Who are the strangers?" He replied, "Those that purify and correct what the people have corrupted of my Sunnah." (Tabaraanee in al-Kabeer [6/202]) And what is this corruption? It is none other than the innovations into the Deen, introducing into the pure religion of Allaah new ways of worshipping Him that He has not taught, blemishing His religion with our whims and desires. May Allaahswt accept all of us to be of the strangers or even just in their shadow. Ameen.
