FORMED BY G-D OR FORMING G-D Creation is the entry-level process. Everyone born into the world exists on this level in the physical sense. Has G-d formed individuals for a specific service or purpose? Jeremiah 1:5 – “formed and consecrated” Isa 49:1 “called from the womb,” 5”formed to be His servant” 1 Sam 1:20 “Because I have asked him of the L-rd” Judges 13:3-4 “You will conceive” Has He formed a nation for Himself? Isa 44:1-2 “Jacob, Israel” Isa 44:24 “formed you” I can go through many scriptures that discusses how G-d formed individuals and formed the nation of Israel, but the question comes down to did He form you and make you with a purpose from birth or is it something else altogether? When we think of being born-again, we should understand the basics that we have become a new creation. 2 Cor. 5:17-19. Being a believer is not synonymous with being formed by the L-rd. It is by an often lengthy, sometimes rough process of discipleship, shaping, sharpening, trying, pruning, moulding and remoulding, that the L-rd brings His people from a state of mere Created beings to formed vessels in his hands. Being born again in itself is not an end but the beginning of a journey, of a process of formation. That is why becoming born again is not in itself a ticket to becoming a vessel in the hands of G-d. At this level of creation, even spiritual gifts will have very little meaning and impact. Formation on the other hand is a state of spiritual experience in which G-d conforms a man to the image of Yeshua. It doesn’t happen at the point of conversion, it doesn’t happen overnight. However G-d would always initiate the process of formation with every man He has created. Look at Paul from his Damascus road experience did not go see any dispel for three years and then stayed away for another 14 years. (Acts 9, Gal 1:18,2:1) It is G-d that initiates the process to take us to the next level. It is when a created man has successfully made the transition to becoming formed by G-d and in G-d’s hand that He can experience a full release into His work. John 1:12, Romans 8:29-30 This is a lesson every man that has the desire to be used by G-d, to be relevant in His work, to affect their generation must learn and take seriously. That man must move from creation to formation, from Genesis 1 to Genesis 2. By the time Moses appeared on the scene in Exodus 2:14, he was a mere created being. He was groomed by Pharaoh but unformed by the L-rd. One random man asked him: “Who made you ruler and judge over us?” That was the question that chased him into the arms of G-d for 40 years of molding and forming. We must realize that G-d is never desperate and in a hurry to use us. It must take however long it must take. For “G-d will probably do more IN us than THROUGH us.” The story was drastically different for Moses when he showed up again in Egypt 40 years later. At what point are you with the forming hand of G-d? Have you been co-operating with Him, even when some of the methods seem unpalatable? Our response to His forming us is what makes it long for some and short for others, successful sometimes and a failure at other times. 1 John 3:1-10 Have you recognized this process yet in your walk with the L-rd? Let me ask you a few other questions: What brings you to the point of worship? What makes you feel worshipful? When you come, do you come to worship and serve G-d? If you do not feel like worshipping, then you are resisting the transformation and formation that G-d is doing in you. Your choice is still the long and the short, the easy or the hard way. You may say the short, or the easy, but your ways will often show your resistance. That is when you are trying to form G-d and I will tell you that is a futile effort, for G-d is forming you into His image as we were created to be in the beginning. Remember “G-d will probably do more IN us than THROUGH us.
