FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Fort Bragg leaders are aware of the protest planned for Saturday Dec. 13 in Fayetteville and remind service members that, while they are within their rights to participate in the protest, they must adhere to law and regulations during their participation. “Our men and women in uniform put themselves in harm’s way to ensure our freedoms, including our First Amendment right to peaceful assembly. If our service members choose to participate in the planned march we want them to do so in a way that keeps them safe and out of trouble,” said Tom McCollum, Fort Bragg spokesman. Any service members participating in the protest must comply with the Joint Ethics Regulation. Specifically, service members who participate must do so only in their personal capacity, and not in any official capacity. No personnel may participate while in uniform and they may not be compelled to participate. While there are no indicators that the protest will become violent, Fort Bragg security officials recommend that members of the Fort Bragg avoid the area around the Cross Creek Mall and if the protest does become violent, they should immediately leave the area to avoid harm
