FOUR SHORT POEMS It walks silently among us; crouching in dark corners, and following on our heels through this dizzying labyrinth with unearthly patience. Like an innocent child, I trusted in the gentleness of the wolves. Like a naive schoolboy, I believed in the tameness of the tigers. Behind those dark eyes there is only silence. Yet, beyond those eyes lies a truth so immense No words can contain it. I hear the rusty voice of death, raining down from a blood-filled night sky. The world falls away, as the stars blink out into the black vastness of an empty eternity. ~Kenneth N Cook
