FOURTEEN Port Vale fans have appeared in court in connection with violent clashes between supporters and police at the club’s match against Wolves. A total of 34 people were arrested following the game at Vale Park on August 31, while seven complaints have been made to the Independent Police Complaints Commission by fans who claim they were bitten by police dogs. Fourteen men appeared at North Staffordshire Justice Centre yesterday after being charged with various offences. Prosecutor Andrew Bodger said: “At the end of the match everyone piled out into Burslem. Thirty police officers found themselves between roughly 200 Vale fans on one side and 200 Wolves fans on the other side.
