FREAKY FABULOUS FRIDAY!!! ________________________________________ Nigeria apparently is the only nation where usage of the word INTERNATIONAL has been so abused which makes me wonder what is wrong with us as people. As far as I know inter Milan(Internazionale of Milan) is the only club that has international attached to their club name in the whole world aside Nigerian clubs and this is justified because the club was formed by nationals of various countries that left AC Milan to form the club. Lets bring it down home in Nigeria: Sunshine international football club of Akure, Heartland international football club of Owerri, Eyimba international football club of Aba to mention but a few. When Nigeria want to refer to ex football players they say Nigeria ex international. Take it down to private schools: Ladigbolu international nursery and primary school, Apatira international secondary school, etc in the area of business Sunny Japan international electronics. Religion: Gods chapel international church. . chapel-church ??? What a tautology!!! Why internationalise the local content here? Funny enough, though common among the so called international schools and churches aside the flags of many countries in their compound nothing else qualifies these entities as international brand wait for this - some international football clubs and schools in Nigeria owes staffs salary! What may perhaps qualifies an entity to take on the international tag is if either the board of directors or board of trustees are foreign nationals and not by mere travelling of the C.E.O of the entity to many countries. Enough said!!
